face #3
I know it's sort of cheating to use faces i did before i set up the challenge... but i sketch it when i had considered the challenge in the past. So... i'm using it! This is a charcoal sketch on paper. I started with charcoal dust mixed with a little water, then when it was dry i erased out the highlights and re-articulated the features with charcoal pencil. White conte was used for the sparkle on the earings. The sketch, (8.5x11), is "after" a painting by John Singer Sargent.

Face #2
This is a painting i did of my daughter about 6 months ago, (it loses something in the translation to photograph). I painted in from a photo, (not ideal... but the only way to keep her still long enough), in oil on Linen primed canvas. I really like painting on the linen canvas!
